The Crew
The staff of IndieWorks has over forty years of combined experience in the business, working alongside production counsel on dozens of feature film and television productions, and completing well over one thousand legal deliveries to A24, Amazon, Lions Gate, Netflix, Paramount, Fox, Sony, Alliance, Roadside Attractions, Focus Features, Starz, and others. We are affiliated with the law firm, Business Affairs Inc., so our backup is the best, but we are a resource in our own right, and we pride ourselves on being results-oriented problem solvers.
Kirk Hamilton
Kirk joined IndieWorks in 2013, after 13 years at Sony Pictures Entertainment where he was in charge of Delivery in the Acquisitions division. In that position, Kirk was responsible for delivery of all pictures acquired by the division as well as production administration for Stage 6 Films in-house productions.
As President of IndieWorks, Kirk works on distribution agreements, interparty agreements, security agreements, a variety of agreements on productions, reviews chain of title, provides script clearance services, handles copyright and trademark registrations, and oversees guild applications. He is also responsible for overseeing document delivery to distributors and is well-versed in talent/crew agreements, insurance, credits and music documentation.
Maggie Megaw
Chief Operating Officer of IndieWorks, LLC, Maggie founded the IndieWorks division of Business Affairs, Inc. in 2010, nurtured its development over the past decade, and coordinated its transition in 2020 from division to stand-alone company. She is very proud of both the idea and the reality of IndieWorks. Formerly actively engaged in many aspects of legal delivery and still ready to jump in as needed on behalf of IndieWorks’ clients, Maggie’s focus today is on running the business side of IndieWorks and thinking about how to make IndieWorks a more efficient and responsive operation. She is always interested in suggestions for ways we can do things better.
Jodi Murphy
Jodi joined IndieWorks in September 2019, after 14 years at The Weinstein Company where she was Executive Vice President of Worldwide Delivery in charge of Delivery for Productions and Acquisitions. In that position, Jodi was responsible for delivery in and out of all pictures acquired and produced by TWC as well as Dimension Films.
As Vice President of IndieWorks, Jodi works on distribution agreements and a variety of production agreements, reviews chain of title, provides script clearance services, and oversees copyright and trademark registrations. She also handles document delivery to distributors worldwide and is well-versed in talent/crew agreements, insurance, credits and music documentation.
Aaron Massarano
Aaron joined IndieWorks in April 2021. He received his J.D. from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, with an entertainment law concentration and served as president of the Jewish Law Students’ Association. Aaron began his legal career at Millennium Entertainment (later renamed Alchemy), interning his 2L summer and returning full-time after the bar exam. While there, he built his expertise in all areas of physical and digital distribution, single-picture and output acquisitions, new media licensing, copyright and trademark law, vendor agreements, corporate financing, and mergers and acquisitions. After two years at Millennium-Alchemy, Aaron spent five years at Lionsgate, simultaneously handling legal delivery for its most high-volume distribution deal as well as legal review and approval of all home entertainment marketing and publicity for the studio, totaling hundreds of deliveries and thousands of creative assets for some of Lionsgate’s largest and most lucrative releases including La La Land, the John Wick franchise, Knives Out, Wonder, and legacy content such as The Hunger Games, Twilight, Saw, and Dirty Dancing. Aaron graduated cum laude from UCLA with a B.A. in history.
As Executive Director & Senior Counsel at IndieWorks, Aaron drafts and negotiates acquisition and distribution agreements, handles content clearance, provides various production legal services, and conducts in-depth review, analysis, and subsequent revision of chain of title, credits, music, insurance, minor documentation, and other legal deliverables. He also works closely with, and regularly advises, the IndieWorks team when working through legal issues and meeting client needs.
Whitney Wilson
Whitney joined IndieWorks in April 2023, after 17 years at Focus Features, where she was in charge of Credits Administration and Legal Delivery for feature acquisitions and productions. She is well versed in all aspects of credit management including but not limited to guild credit notice submissions and arbitrations, waiver procurement, and creation of main and end title screen credit sequences. She has ample experience generating paid advertising summaries and reviewing marketing assets for credit and legal compliance.
On the delivery side, Whitney has over 25 years of experience reviewing all aspects of legal delivery including talent agreements, chain of title, copyright, production and financing agreements, third party clearances, residuals compliance documentation, music licenses and insurance. Whitney continues to provide these services as Vice President for IndieWorks for feature, episodic television and streaming content.
Ryel Toby
Ryel joined Indieworks in July 2023, after 7 years at Netflix where she was Legal Delivery Manager supporting the Film group. In that role, she was responsible for the review and approval of legal delivery of films licensed and produced by Netflix, as well as negotiating delivery schedules, implementing workflows and working closely with internal teams to ensure all delivery needs across the company were met.
As Executive Director, Ryel handles document delivery of film and television projects to distributors worldwide, including reviewing Chain of Title, music licenses, talent and crew agreements, credits, and everything in between. In her spare time, Ryel loves traveling, long walks with her rescue chihuahua, Ricky and volunteering at her local dog rescue.
Markeshia Moore
Markeshia Moore joined IndieWorks as in-house counsel in May 2019. She received her J.D. from Chapman Fowler School of Law, where she served on the board of the Social Justice Symposium, as well as a member of both the Entertainment Law Society and Entertainment Law Clinic. While in law school, Markeshia interned with the T.V. legal department of Paramount Pictures for several semesters working closely with department executives, and in her first two years post-law school, Markeshia worked as Executive Legal Assistant in the office of the General Counsel at CAA. Markeshia received a duel B.A. from The Pennsylvania State University in English and Communications.
As in-house Counsel for IndieWorks, Markeshia drafts and negotiates distribution and producer agreements, reviews chain of title, credits, and all legal documentation connected with hundreds of film and television properties. Markeshia corresponds daily with distributors, producers, and talent representatives to ensure documents are properly cleared for delivery, and with IndieWorks clients to ensure that their needs are being met with respect to the demands of their marketing and release schedules.
Jennifer Glianna
Jennifer received her B.S. from San Diego State University, where she studied film production, before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the film business. After several on-set positions, Jennifer worked for an indie production and sales company where she was exposed to all aspects of the business, including business affairs and legal delivery. Since 2012, Jennifer has made legal delivery her career focus. In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys photography and interior decorating.
Lori Mathison
Lori joined IndieWorks in June of 2021, after 19 years at Film Bridge International (“FBI”) where she was Director of Operations, Sales, and Marketing. In that position she was responsible for all delivery ( in and out) of all pictures acquired and produced by FBI. Lori also Associate Produced many of FBI’s productions and coordinated post-production legal and physical delivery.
As Director of Documentation Delivery, Lori handles document delivery of film and television projects to distributors worldwide including reviewing Chain of Titles documents, talent/crew agreements, music documentation, insurance, and credits.
Daniel Baig
Daniel joined IndieWorks in January 2023 where he works with distributors, producers, and filmmakers to facilitate legal delivery for film and television productions. His background includes marketing and compliance roles in the investment management industry before transitioning to a boutique entertainment law firm where he primarily focused on drafting various writer, talent and production agreements in the animation and feature space. He has worked on a wide range of business affairs and intellectual property matters, and has also served as a temporary contractor in the film delivery department for a mini-major studio. He received his J.D. from The John Marshall Law School and his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame. Daniel is admitted to the Illinois State Bar.
Alexandra Sherer
During law school, Alexandra interned at several entertainment law firms, including Seidman Creative Law Group, as well as Hantman & Associates, where she worked with clients in film, television, and fashion. Alexandra also interned for two New York Judges where she conducted legal research on pending motions and drafted bench memoranda. She also served as a Legal Aide for the New York State Office of the Attorney General – Litigation Bureau and worked with her school’s Pandemic Employment Relief Clinic on providing legal assistance to individuals applying for unemployment insurance due to COVID-19 pandemic job loss. In addition to internships and externships, Alexandra’s law school career included her involvement in various activities such as serving as an Associate Managing Editor for the Journal of International Law, as well as being a member of the Brooklyn Entertainment and Sports Law Society.
Prior to entering law school, Alexandra gained on-set experience by working on many television shows and films, including The Deuce, Billions, Law and Order SVU, and Joker, as a background actress in New York. Prior to joining IndieWorks, Alexandra was an Associate at a boutique entertainment firm, where she worked on a variety of transactional matters, with a focus on clients in film and television. Alexandra earned her Bachelor of Arts from New York University, and her J.D. degree from Brooklyn Law School (2021), where she earned a Certificate in Intellectual Property, Media & Information Law. Alexandra is admitted to the New York Bar.
Sal Rosas
Prior to law school, Sal worked as a paralegal at Paul Weiss, where he worked on corporate transactions for clients in the entertainment industry. During law school, Sal interned at entertainment law firm Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz PC, where he worked with clients in film, television, and music. Sal was also a legal intern for Sony Music Entertainment and Film Nation where he worked on music licenses, copyright, and trademark matters. As a 2L Summer Associate, he worked at Greenberg Traurig, where he worked on cable distribution deals and licensing for television and film clients. In addition to internships and externships, Sal served as the Outreach Chair for the Entertainment Arts and Sports Law Society, as well as Social Chair of the Latinx Law Student Association.
Prior to joining IndieWorks, Sal worked as a corporate attorney working on a variety of transactional matters, focusing on clients in the sports and entertainment industries. Sal earned a B.A. in American Studies from Georgetown University and earned his J.D. at Columbia Law School. Sal is admitted to the New York Bar.
Ryan Hadfield
Ryan joined IndieWorks in October of 2023. He received a dual B.S. in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Utah and a J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where he focused his studies on intellectual property, media, and entertainment law. During law school, Ryan participated in Cardozo Law’s Filmmakers Legal Clinic, where he helped filmmakers navigate a wide variety of legal issues. Ryan also worked as a business and legal affairs intern with FilmNation Entertainment, World Wrestling Entertainment, and Sesame Workshop. Additionally, Ryan worked helping develop documentary film projects with the team at Hard Working Movies. When he’s not handling legal delivery for film and television projects, Ryan enjoys snowboarding and golfing. Ryan is admitted to the New York Bar.
Jack Miles
Jack joined IndieWorks in October of 2022. He received his B.S. in Business Administration, Finance from Susquehanna University’s Sigmund Weis School of Business. While at university, he interned with Schedule 2 in New York, an international technical services company specializing in professional post-production services and delivery for film and television. Upon graduation, he went on to work with Opal Post in New York, specializing in international film delivery and servicing, while also working in the post-production office for the feature film BEIRUT. Jack then made the move out west to Los Angeles, working in process engineering in the technology sector, before returning to delivery with IndieWorks.
As Delivery Coordinator, Jack handles the legal delivery of film projects worldwide, including chain of title documents, talent and crew agreements, music documentation, insurance, and credits.
Wiley Clements
Wiley earned her B.A. in English and Music from Emory University, concentrating in Creative Writing and Jazz Performance, respectively. Graduating into the Covid-19 pandemic, she had a variety of jobs that were able to support her as she pursued her own writing projects. Wiley is now excited to use her unique experience and background as an artist, working "behind the curtain" with IndieWorks.
